The project addresses the development of families in Europe and the challenges posed by their increasing complexity and diversity.  It aims to extend the research terrain and to provide a broader empirically grounded basis for policy making at the European, the national, and the local level by addressing the causes and consequences of family change, reflected in changing parental and gender roles, vulnerabilities, and new patterns in intergenerational relationships in families and societies in Europe. The program has been up and running for more than three years and has now reached the stage where it organizes its final conference. The conference is held in Brussels.
